Four Sharp Corners is a one-act dramatic monologue following the events of the Grenfell Tower tragedy in June 2017.
This is a play for one actor, portraying a grief-stricken son reflecting on the relationship with his late mother. Through a series of vignettes, Pete recounts the history of his mother’s life, from growing up in the surburbs of Manchester to losing her husband and relocating to London.
An exploration into the human impacts on social injustices, Four Sharp Corners examines themes of loss, classism and isolation.
Performed in the Michael Frayn Theatre, this was Josh Stainer’s directing and writing debut. Devised by combining Verbatim Theatre with mime, this original piece sought to explore the capabilities of theatre as a means of evoking nostalgia.
